Commercial Paving for the greater Chicagoland and Midwest Area!
Commercial Paving for the greater Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Area!
Situated on the river for which it is named, Des Plaines is a thriving, business-friendly city in Cook County. Whenever those businesses ask Black Hawk Paving to provide them with asphalt paving, sealcoating, asphalt milling, crack routing and sealing, parking lot striping, or asphalt repairs, we are always happy to help.
Although the area had been inhabited by Native American tribes for centuries, the first settlers from the United States did not arrive until 1833, following the Treaty of Chicago. During the 1850s, the Illinois and Western purchased land in the area along a planned railroad line connecting Chicago to Janesville, Wisconsin, and they constructed a mill beside the river to produce railroad ties. The company then sold the mill to Socrates Rand, who turned it into a grist mill, attracting local farmers to the town. A business
section grew up around the mill, which was near the train station that would be officially named Des Plaines in 1869. The village was incorporated in 1869 and again in 1873. In 1880, Des Plaines had a population of 818. After the end of World War II and the construction of Chicago-O’Hare International Airport, Des Plaines grew rapidly. The population expanded to almost 15,000 by 1950, then more than doubled to 34,886 in 1960. Today, the town has more than 58,000 residents.
Black Hawk Paving provides its services to homeowner associations and condominiums, hotels, retailers, educational facilities, property management firms, churches, and facility managers. We offer these services in Des Plaines.
• Asphalt Paving | Des Plaines, IL: With its speed of installation, economical cost, longevity, and aesthetics, asphalt paving has become the most popular choice for pavements of all sizes and types.
• Asphalt Repair | Des Plaines, IL: If you have inherited a neglected asphalt parking lot or other pavement, your first impression may be that nothing can save it. However, asphalt repairs are sufficiently economical that you should consult a reputable contractor before making a decision. Even if the pavement is riddled with patches of alligatored asphalt, potholes, or other damage, you may still be able to get many more years of use from your pavement.
• Asphalt Sealcoating | Des Plaines, IL: For economy and effectiveness, it is virtually impossible to find a better way to maximize the life of an asphalt pavement than sealcoating. Sealed asphalt pavements can often last more than twice as long, and they will also look much more attractive.
• Parking Lot Striping | Des Plaines, IL: The first instance of striping a parking lot is debatable, and it may be lost to history forever. What is certain is that modern parking lots need visible, neat stripes and markings to be safe, orderly environments that comply with federal and local regulations.
• Asphalt Milling & Grinding | Des Plaines, IL: Whether your contractor is preparing to install an asphalt overlay, correcting a drainage issue, or making a repair, do not be surprised if he uses a milling machine to remove an extremely precise depth of the pavement. It is a rapid and economical procedure, but it also offers a number of other benefits.
• Hot Crack Sealing & Routing | Des Plaines, IL: When cracks develop in an asphalt pavement, it is imperative to repair them as quickly as possible to prevent additional damage. Although there are various crack repair methods available, whenever possible, you should choose crack routing and hot crack sealing for the longest-lasting repair.
• Pavement Marking | Des Plaines, IL: Whether they are applied to parking lot pavements, high-speed highways, or city streets, the primary function of pavement markings is to enhance safety
• Concrete Curbing | Des Plaines, IL: Curbing helps define the boundaries of your pavement, giving your property a more formal appearance.
• Concrete Flatwork | Des Plaines, IL: These include parking lots, pool decks, sidewalks, dumpster pads, courtyards, and streets. In simple terms, concrete flatwork is installing concrete pavement on a flat or almost flat surface.
• Sewer Repairs | Des Plaines, IL: The sewer system is the primary cause of water that pools or backs up onto the pavement
• Excavation & Site Grading | Des Plaines, IL: Contractors typically must remove earth to construct the foundation or a basement, install pipes and underground utility lines, build a driveway, or install a septic tank. Site grading is establishing the proper slope
• Car Stops | Des Plaines, IL: Well-maintained car stops add a finishing touch to parking lots, enhancing the property’s aesthetic appeal.
